The 3 BEST and WORST Parts of being married to an Entrepreneur

"There is nothing worse for a business than a nagging wife" and I agree.

Married?  Your Business Is Meant To Serve You

If you are married you know how tough it can be.  If you have a small business then you know how tough that can be as well.

Combine the two, well, it can get interesting.

I understand that I am different.  I really am an Entrepreneur to the bone.

I like building things.

I am an idea factory.

I cannot shut my brain off.

It takes a special kind of woman to live life with a guy like that.  My wife is the unsung hero in all of my success and my partner going forward with other business ventures.

Pain And Suffering

I always joke that I have a Bachelors degree in pain and a Masters degree in suffering.

If that is true I’m not sure how to describe the education my wife and our family have received over the years of figuring all of this stuff out.

Ashlee was my High School sweetheart and we have been married 14.5 years so far.  She is not an entrepreneur herself but she is the perfect compliment to someone like me.

Give Them Permission To Fail

Ashlee talks about how important it is for wives to support their husbands in business and not to beat them up over the bumps in the road.

She said “There is nothing worse for a business than a nagging wife” and I agree.

In our chat she also mentioned how if there happens to be a “fail” in your business to focus on how the idea was the failure, not the person.

It is not easy but it is WORTH it

If there is one thing my wife is convinced of it is this….  It may not be easy but it is worth it.

The destination is so good and the growth is so powerful, as you endure though building your business, that you wont focus on the pain of the journey nearly as much as you enjoy the destination.

Does Your Business SERVE You?

Sometimes we believe our own lies.

Sometimes we get caught up in our own story so deep that we lose track of the original point.

  • Why did you start your business?
  • When will you choose to be content?
  • How much is enough?

A Great Partnership

My wife Ashlee and I are both very clear on what we want to do with our lives and it makes building our businesses so much better.

When there is struggle, we know it is only for a “season” and that when we cross the finish line it will all be worth it.
