Episode 144: How To Make $3,200,000 Cleaning After Losing Everything Because of Michael Jackson – With Ben Surdi
How does someone go from bankruptcy and dark times to only a few years later having a home service company doing over $3 million a year?
We all have unique attributes to our company. The way we do things, the words we use.
If you spend time and get really intentional on how you unpack your service to make it differentiated, interesting and passionate, that in itself will raise your average ticket.
Today, I interview an up and coming mentor, Ben Surdi.
He got kicked out of every school he ever went to.
In middle school was sent to military boot camp.
Worked for his dad.
Started his own company.
Put everything into one deal and lost EVERYTHING.
And went bankrupt right after having his first son.
His wife asked him what he was going to do to get out of this as they were being evicted from their apartment.
He talked to his dad, got his old carpet cleaning truck that was rusted and not running. Spray painted it lime green and started a Green Clean carpet cleaning company before green cleaning was a big thing.
He would go door to door in the pouring rain. Offered to clean one room of carpet free of charge. He just wanted to show them the quality of work. If they liked it he would give them an estimate.
The deals started coming in. It was a blessing.
He became an expert in his field. Worked all day, sat at home worked until 4 am in the morning working on his website and how to code. He didn’t have the money to pay someone to do it, so he made it happen. He put in the work, worked the hours and became an expert in his field.
